Research Safaris & Experiences

Join our wildlife management team for half a day and become immersed in the protocols and practices behind the successful breeding and genetic protection of some our greatest endemic wildlife game species.

We offer guests a once in a lifetime opportunity to take part in nature conservation work whilst on safari in South Africa. Transform your safari into an epic adventure of learning through conservation, with a chance to get "up close and personal" with animals, whilst at the same time physically giving back to conservation projects in Africa. For private reserves to carry out the necessary ongoing research, and secure their resident keystone species within their boundaries, continued monitoring is crucial, but this often comes at a cost in excess of the reserves means. Participation and contribution of visiting guests will ensure that the work can take place, and that we come that much closer to better understanding the species in question, and better securing its future in the wild.

Animals which are generally worked with include White and Black Rhino, Buffalo, and on the rare occasion Leopard, Cheetah and Hyena. The general research darting safari takes place during a 2 or 3 night stay on site. This may vary according to the species in question, and the nature of the work which needs to be carried out. One day allows for the target animal to be successfully located by yourselves and the wildlife management team whilst you continue with safari activities and the other full day will be used for the immobilization/darting and veterinary work to be carried out.

The balance of your stay will be filled with normal safari activities allowing one to truly immerse one’s self in Africa.
